Thriving From Stress: Building Resilience & Wellness
A FREE Evidence-Based Training Rooted in Local Community Conversations
This training is a valuable addition to ASAP’s ongoing efforts to prevent substance misuse and promote overall wellness in the community.
As a pivotal component of our #RethinkingWellness initiative, we have engaged Dr. Joel Bennett, President of Organizational Wellness & Learning Systems (OWLS), to train 6 people from our community using his evidence-based, nationally-recognized curriculum. Dr. Bennett has adapted his curriculum based on insights gathered from local community conversations, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness in addressing stress.
Program Objectives & Outcomes
1) Understand Stress-Related Challenges in Bartholomew County: Explore rising drug-related deaths, opioid prescriptions, and depression diagnoses to understand local challenges.
2) Break Negative Coping Cycles: Learn to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms and develop positive strategies for managing stress.
3) Learn Proven Stress-Reduction Techniques: Practice goal-setting, intention-setting, and relaxation exercises for effective stress management.
4) Build Community Resilience: Apply your knowledge to improve your own well-being and contribute to a healthier community.
About Dr. Joel Bennett
Joel Bennett, PhD, is President of Organizational Wellness & Learning Systems (OWLS), a consulting firm that specializes in evidence-based wellness and e-learning technologies to promote organizational health and employee well-being. Dr. Bennett first delivered stress management programming in 1985 and OWLS programs have since reached close to 250,000 workers across the United States and abroad. He is primary developer of “Team Awareness” and “Team Resilience,” evidence-based, culture of health programs recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Health as effective in reducing employee behavioral risks. Team Awareness has been adapted by the U.S. National Guard as one of their flagship prevention programs and it has been used by municipalities, hospitals, restaurants, electrician training centers, small businesses, Native American tribal government, and in Italy and South Africa.
